egos about

there are benefits to knowing what something means without having it spelled out for you. and it’s nice being able to accurately predict behaviors and responses based on personal experience, and on having interacted with a multiplicity of personalities that essentially amount to the same basic human characteristics…

it’s nice knowing yourself too–your threshold of emotions, your tolerance for pain, your inclination toward compassion, your capacity for grief, your understanding of mercy, what brings about joy, passion, or forgiveness; hope or rage…closure, peace, gratitude. it differs slightly for some of us, i guess, but the same basic virtues and emotions and tenements rule our lives… love. loss. joy. suffering. (what else is there?) much more, i am sure… but sometimes, there is just this: some time lived, some relationships forged, nurtured; remembered occasionally, forgotten eventually some…. regret, and some sacrifice, and some sharing of things, and swallowing of pride. some hurt feelings, some being misunderstood. some time to play and laugh and whisper, and sometimes, a desire to kill. but we must not forget for as much or as little as we feel, we are sharing the planet with a multitude of other people with just as many, more, and less emotions (and backgrounds and ideas and notions and inclinations and tolerance levels and comfort zones and…), capacity for physical and emotional and other violences, and audacity as the next man.

watch out world, small people, and victim-types. broken egos are all about. some are armed, defensive, and un/predictably dangerous.
